Communities take to the streets for National Night Out Tuesday

KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) - More than 15,000 communities will take part in National Night Out tonight as a way to promote neighborhood safety.

Oak Ridge will celebrate with free events at Bissell Park and the Oak Ridge Civic Center from 4pm-8pm.

There will be food, drinks, entertainment and plenty of other demonstrations including one by oak ridge and anderson county K9 officers.

Folks in Jellico are meeting from 6pm-9pm at Veterans Park .

There will be demonstrations by the police department, free food and drinks. This year the department is also giving away free school supplies to all children who attend.

Knoxville postponed its National Night Out celebration to October 2, because of the heat.
