HUNTINGDON, Tenn. (AP) --Now you'll have a new place to cast your line and fish the day away.
The Carroll County Thousand Acre Recreation Lake opens to the public Wednesday.
They'll cut the ribbon at 10 a.m. and people who pay the minimal fee can fish all day. Carroll County residents can fish for $3 per day. Others pay $5 per day.
A Tennessee fishing license is required. Annual fishing permits are available for $25.
Local fisherman John D. Graham says a child will never have another fishing day as exciting as the opening of the lake, where the fish have never seen a baited hook. He's taking his grandchildren fishing.
The Carroll County Watershed Authority board owns and manages the lake. Part of the lake's purpose is to help ease regional flooding and soil erosion.
