CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A new call center will bring an eventual 500 jobs to Clarksville.
Agero, which takes calls for roadside assistance, announced Monday the company would place an $8.2 million center in the city, beginning business on Oct. 29.
The Leaf-Chronicle reported the Medford, Mass.-based company had been heavily recruited by the Clarksville-Montgomery County Industrial Development Board. Agero chose Clarksville over Florence, S.C.
Company President Dave Ferrick said Agero was overwhelmed with the quality of potential employees after hosting a job fair earlier this year.
The city also got a boost Monday from an announcement by yearbook and class ring maker Jostens that it was phasing out 372 production jobs in Topeka, Kan., and moving the work to Clarksville.
