HIXSON, Tenn. (AP) - A 56-year-old man is charged with attempted criminal homicide and aggravated arson after witnesses said he lit fire to a Hixson home with his three-month-old baby inside this weekend.
Media reported that investigators arrested Robert Allen Sherrill of Hixson on Sunday.
Police said Sherrill set the fire just hours after the mother of his child confronted him about retrieving some of her property.
Police said Sherrill torched a car in the garage while his infant daughter was inside the house.
Another resident pulled the burning car out of the garage before the flames could spread.
Sherrill remained at the Hamilton County Jail on $150,000 bond. He was scheduled to appear in Hamilton County General Sessions Court July 15. Jail records did not list an attorney.
