KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- "Operation Grainger Strike" lead to 55 more drug indictments from the Grainger County Grand jury on Monday.
It's part of Sheriff Scott Layel's effort to tackle drugs; one of his top priorities since he took office in 2010.
"If we don't make a stand right now and do something, our children aren't going to have a future," he said.
The "Grainger Strike" effort is a joint coalition between the Grainger County Sheriff's Office, the 4th Judicial Drug task Force and the T.B.I.
The sheriff's department has served more than 1,300 warrants over the past several months. Every time they're not on patrol or doing paperwork, deputies out getting drugs off the street.
"The momentum is beginning to turn in favor of law enforcement and I hope we are making the people proud. You can tell when the tide changes when illicit street drug prices sky rocket and that's what happening in our county," said Sheriff Layel. "We're a long way from winning this war on drugs but we we will continue to take one battle at a time".
