Partnership to help West Tenn. veterans find jobs

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) -- A partnership between two regional non-profit organizations and USDA Rural Development is helping West Tennessee veterans find jobs.

Tennessee U.S. Rep. Stephen Fincher and Rural Development State Director Bobby Goode joined local leaders this week in announcing federal funding for the program.

The partnership is between Memphis Bioworks Foundation and the Crockett Policy Institute. The USDA is providing a $30,000 grant.

The collaboration will establish a network of support organizations, a comprehensive database and outreach programs to help veterans find jobs in the energy sector.

Initially, the program will work with veterans and businesses in Benton, Carroll, Chester, Crockett, Decatur, Dyer, Fayette, Gibson, Hardeman, Hardin, Haywood, Henderson, Lake, Lauderdale, McNairy, Obion, Tipton and Weakley counties before expanding to the Mississippi Delta Region.
