JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) — The Madison County sheriff has suspended a sergeant at the county penal farm while a report of two assaults is investigated.

According to The Jackson Sun, the sheriff's office said Sgt. Vick A. Kendrick was suspended with pay on Thursday after a report that two inmates were assaulted Monday. The newspaper could not reach the 58-year-old Kendrick for comment.

Kendrick has been employed by the sheriff's office since 2001 and has been at the penal farm since 2008.

The names of the alleged assault victims were not released and Sheriff David Woolfork declined comment beyond acknowledging Kendrick's suspension in a news release.
