Police: Man tried to kidnap 11-year-old

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Clarksville police are investigating an attempted child abduction case after an 11-year-old boy told authorities that a man tried to pull him into a minivan on Wednesday.

WSMV-TV in Nashville reports that the boy told police the man jumped out of some bushes and then tried to pull him into a green minivan nearby. The boy managed to escape by hitting the man in the head with a stick.

The suspect is described as a while male in his late 20s or early 30s who has red hair with a flat-top haircut and freckles on his face. Police say he was wearing a black sleeveless shirt, blue jeans and Nike shoes and may have a dragon tattoo on his arm.

Police are urging anyone with information to call 911.
