JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) -- Suspicious packages found in multiple east Tennessee cities Monday morning have been determined to be gifts after prompting at least one lockdown and in some cases a visit from the bomb squad.
The Johnson City Police Department issued a statement saying investigators had identified the person who sent the packages to various locations in the Tri-Cities area, and the person sending the gifts meant no harm.
The Johnson City Press is reporting that Unicoi, Greeneville and Bristol also received some of the packages.
The statement didn't say how the gifts were packaged or what about them prompted the police to call the FBI, lock down the Johnson City Public Library and dispatch the bomb squad to several locations. The person who sent the gifts was not identified.
