CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- Chattanooga police say the discovery of a woman's body in the Tennessee River has become a homicide investigation.
The Chattanooga Times Free Press reported that authorities said on Wednesday the medical examiner's office found 57-year-old Deborah Underhill's body bore what were termed "suspicious wounds." Police did not elaborate.
Underhill's body was discovered around 6 p.m. Friday. She was last seen alive on Thursday when she checked into a psychiatric services agency. A friend reported her missing about 12 hours later.
Police said Underhill was known to frequent downtown Chattanooga, particularly the public library.
