Police: woman hits man with car, tries again

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Police in Memphis say a woman drove onto a sidewalk to hit a man with her car and then chased him up an embankment.

The Commercial Appeal reported police found Quantavia Watkins had her child with her in the car and had 5 grams of marijuana. She was arrested on charges of reckless driving, child abuse or neglect and drug possession.

A FedEx security guard called police Thursday evening and said he saw Martin drive onto a sidewalk, strike the man, turn her car around and go after him again until he ran up the embankment where she couldn't reach him. Martin, who is 29, then drove away.

The child wasn't hurt. The man's condition wasn't known.
