BRIDGEPORT, Ala. (AP) -- A deputy said a man abducted at gunpoint by three men in the Atlanta area got away when they made a bathroom stop at a northeast Alabama sporting goods store where he jumped across a counter and bounded toward archery equipment while yelling for help.

The chief deputy in Jackson County, Ala., said three men, all with "questionable" immigration status, fled and were later stopped nearby in Tennessee, then returned to Alabama. They are charged with kidnapping.

Chief Deputy Rocky Harnen told the Chattanooga Times Free Press the three were being held for possible immigration violations . He said Friday they do not have lawyers.

An employee at Big Daddy's Outdoors in Bridgeport said the abducted man "was in fear for his life" Tuesday.

The abducted man's identity was withheld.
