BENTON, Tenn. (AP) -- Authorities in southeastern Tennessee have identified a man struck and killed by a train.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office says the dead man was Timothy Laurence Moody.
A police report cited by the Chattanooga Times Free Press states Moody was hitting on the tracks Saturday night near the Horn's Creek Bridge when a CSX train struck him.
The train crew told investigators Moody was sitting on a rail with his feet between the tracks. He didn't move when the engineer blew the horn and tried to brake the train. Moody was pronounced dead at the scene.
