Regulators to review Sequoyah safety Tuesday

SODDY-DAISY, Tenn. (AP) -- The Nuclear Regulatory Commission will have an open house Tuesday night in Soddy-Daisy, Tenn., to discuss the safety performance of the Sequoyah nuclear plant.

The commission has already determined that the Tennessee Valley Authority plant operated safely in 2011. NRC inspectors also looked at safety concerns at Sequoyah and other U.S. plants after a March 2011 earthquake damaged the Fukushima Daiichi plant in Japan. Those reviews found that the plants remained safe.

The session Tuesday night will be in the Sequoyah training center auditorium from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
