KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- Brittany Eldridge was only week's away from becoming a mother when she was murdered two years ago Friday. Her unborn child Zeke died as well.
The cold weather Friday night didn't stop her friends and family from marking the somber anniversary. Dozens lit lanterns and released them at Volunteer Marina all in honor of Brittany and baby Zeke.
Brittany's mother Robin Owens says, "We wanted it to be over the water. Brittany always loved water, and so between the water and the Chinese lanterns we thought this would be the perfect place to do it."
Still no arrests have been made in the killings.
The family says it is because of a flawed justice system, but the D.A. says they're waiting until the have a solid case.
