Rocker John Mellencamp's artwork on display

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- American rocker and songwriter John Mellencamp will have his first museum exhibition of paintings he created at the Tennessee State Museum.

The exhibit called "Nothing Like I Planned: The Art of John Mellencamp" is opening on Thursday and will run through June 10. The popular musician who has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and been nominated for 13 Grammy awards has seriously pursued painting throughout his musical career.

The exhibit consists of 52 paintings from a wide range of years and will be his first museum exhibition, although his artwork has been in gallery exhibitions.
