JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) -- The Madison County Commission has approved the $1 sale of the old Pinson School to the Pinson Ruritan Club.
The club plans to demolish a section of the building where the roof caved in earlier this year.
The Jackson Sun reported the school board had recommended the sale earlier.
The club previously had a 20-year lease on the building.
Ruritan spokesman Jerry Ellis said his organization wants to save the auditorium and the home economics classroom. Ellis also said the club has agreed to give Pinson Baptist Church access to the building.
The club uses the rear portion of the building for meetings and activities.
