JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) -- Scholarships may soon be available to students of East Tennessee State University's School of Continuing Studies and Academic Outreach.
Rick Osborn, who is dean at the school, told the Johnson City Press that a proposal to offer scholarships comes as tuition keeps increasing and the school celebrates its 25th anniversary.
Osborn says he is in the process of getting feedback from alumni and instructors who work through the School of Continuing Studies about the possibility of establishing an endowment.
The school started in 1988 with less than 12 students as a way to encourage older and non-traditional age students to finish a degree program. He said most students enter the school with about 80 credit hours and need to earn about 40 more.
