JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) -- A young West Tennessee athlete who drowned trying to save is grandfather is being remembered as a bright youth and a good student.
With Huntingdon High School on spring break, 15-year-old basketball player Jeremy Hill joined his family fishing on the Tennessee River at New Johnsonville on Monday.
The youth's grandfather fell from their boat and Jeremy dived in with another adult to rescue him. They managed to get Dwayne Hill back into the boat, but Jeremy disappeared under the surface. A search crew found his body nearly six hours later.
Dwayne Hill had an apparent heart attack and died shortly after he was pulled back into the boat.
Huntingdon basketball coach Scott Ashley told The Jackson Sun Jeremy was outgoing and was a big part of the team.
