MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Police say there had been several burglaries reported in the Memphis neighborhood where a homeowner fatally shot a teen after his residence was broken into.
The Commercial Appeal (http://bit.ly/QlaHM4) cited police documents in reporting that Friday's burglary attempt was the eighth one reported this year on the same street.
Police say the 41-year-old homeowner told officers the teen and two other people broke into his home late Friday morning and that he shot one of them.
Police say 16-year-old Teryan Reed was taken to the Regional Medical Center at Memphis in critical condition, but later died.
Two others, 20-year-old Cory Buford and a juvenile, were taken into custody.
Police continue to investigate.
