Sex trafficking charges filed against Carthage man

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Carthage man who was in jail in Smith County on a charge of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor faces additional sexual trafficking charges after a grand jury indicted him on a total of 25 charges.

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said 51-year-old Doug Clemons was arrested on Friday and was served with the additional charges on Monday.

The TBI said Clemons was arrested after he was caught exchanging child pornography with another individual. The agency executed a search warrant on his house, which resulted in additional evidence including information about a juvenile victim of sex trafficking.

He faces charges of aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor, sexual exploitation of a minor, trafficking for sexual servitude, attempted trafficking for sexual servitude and especially aggravated sexual exploitation of a minor.
