Shelby County deputy jailer faces assault charge

MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- A Shelby County deputy jailer has been charged with aggravated assault.

According to WMC-TV, 41-year-old Gerald Holliman was arrested Friday for striking a man in the head with a bottle following an altercation.

The victim, Davalon Young, was treated at a local hospital for a concussion and cut on his head.

A jailer told The Associated Press on Sunday that Holliman made his $5,000 bond and was released on Saturday.

He's scheduled to appear in court on Monday.
