ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (AP) -- Carter County Sheriff Chris Mathes says his department has arrested three people in a double homicide and arson case.

Glenn Shell and Joyce Brock were killed June 26 when fire destroyed a garage where they had been living since their home burned earlier that month.

The Johnson City Press reported Mathes did not release the suspects' names when he announced the arrests late Sunday. More details were to be released later Monday.

Shell had told investigators someone tried to break into the home he and Brock shared on June 6, but the person didn't get inside. Immediately afterward, Shell said he smelled diesel fuel and saw flames on a wooden deck. He awakened Brock and they escaped.

Both died in the later fire that consumed the garage.
