Sites down to 3 for new West Tenn. vets cemetery

JACKSON, Tenn. (AP) -- The potential locations for a new West Tennessee veterans cemetery have been pared to three.

The Jackson Sun reported a steering committee last week picked one site in Madison County and two spots in Henderson County as finalists. All sites are between 130 and 140 acres.

The Tennessee Department of Veterans Affairs will evaluate the top choice to make certain it meets criteria for grant money. That property is near Interstate 40 and U.S. 412.

The committee will need to raise money toward buying the property to be eligible for a federal grant. The land will cost nearly $900,000.
