KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT ) -- The tax free weekend for Tennessee starts at 12:01 on Friday August 5th and runs through Sunday night at 11:59.
Tennesseans can purchase clothing and school supplies under $100, and computers $1500 and under, without paying a sales tax.
The small, independent stores are banking on your business.
Thomas Hill who owns the Computer Depot hopes shoppers will consider them first.
He says they sell different brands than the bigger department stores and they stand out with their customer service and incentives.
Nathan Phillips of the board Room says they will be open on Sunday (they are usually closed) for their customers,
He also says they are well stocked with the trendy clothes, shoes and accessories teens are looking for to wear back to school.
The first sales tax holiday was in 2006.
