KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- It's called "Ready TN" and is an all in one phone app that gets you ready for severe weather.

The Tennessee Emergency Management Agency, The National Weather Service, TDOT and the American Red Cross can all be accessed through the new app.

George Mathews of the National Weather Service said "There's an expectation for warmer than normal temperatures across this area and for it to be wetter than normal and there will probably be some opportunities for severe weather."

The free app connects you to road conditions, weather alerts, emergency shelters and local contacts through out the state.

There's also an interactive check list that helps you create your own emergency kit.

Jeremy Heidt from TEMA said "With the simple touch a button you have a list already created for you. Take it to the store and check off the items as you buy them. Once you get everything you'll have yourself an emergency kit."

Plus, it could come in handy when you need to get information about hazards in the area.

"By simply pressing the plan tab, you can quickly learn what to do before, during and after different severe weather events." said Heidt

More than 4,000 people have already downloaded "Ready TN" but currently it's only available for android phone. However, TEMA is in negotiations with Apple to launch it for iPhone so watch out for it in the coming months.
