Speed limit lowered on Kentucky bridge

LEDBETTER, Ky. (AP) -- Kentucky has lowered the speed limit on the U.S. 60 Tennessee River Bridge at Ledbetter to 35 mph with state officials citing safety reasons for the change.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet announced the switch from 45 mph, saying the reduced speed helps maintain safety due to increased traffic and heavier vehicles that are using KY 937 as an alternate route while a 3-ton load limit is in place on the bridge.

The lower speed limit extends 1500 feet off each end of the bridge.
