KINGSPORT, Tenn. (AP) -- A 9-year-old girl has drowned in a Kingsport swimming pool.
The Kingsport Times-News reported the child's father had taken a lawn mower to a man who had purchased it.
A statement from the Sullivan County Sheriff's Office stated Ashley Vincente was playing in the yard while the buyer looked over the lawn mower on Sunday afternoon. The father looked up and didn't see his daughter. She was found a short time later in the fenced-in swimming pool.
Deputies said medics arrived to find the men performing CPR on Ashley, who later died at the Holston Valley Medical Center.
Detectives have requested an autopsy be performed on the victim's body, but at this time her death appears to be an accidental drowning.
