BLOUNTVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Sullivan County Sheriff Wayne Anderson will receive the Sheriff Buford Pusser National Law Enforcement Officer of the Year award.
According to the Bristol Herald Courier, award sponsors said Anderson has led one of the most progressive and professional sheriff's offices in the state.
They noted that the Sullivan County sheriff's office is one of a handful in the state that has been recognized as an accredited law enforcement organization by the Committee on Law Enforcement Accreditation.
In addition, Anderson has been recognized both statewide and nationally for his work training and handling K-9 officers.
Anderson's award will be presented Saturday during the Buford Pusser Festival in Adamsville, Tenn.
