Suspicious package found at Sen. Lamar Alexander's office

NASHVILLE, Tenn.(WVLT)--An aide opening mail inside Senator Lamar Alexander's office on West End Avenue found the package.

Officials say the aid saw the package, felt it, and noticed something unusual. She notified police, who contacted the bomb squad and the Metro Fire Department's Hazmat Team.

Hazmat removed the package from Alexander's office safely and sent it to the FBI Crime Lab for further investigation. It was unclear what substance was inside the package.

No injuries were reported.
