TBI probing fatal police shooting of man with gun

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Police say a Middle Tennessee man has been shot and killed after firing a gun at police officers.

Kristin Helm of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation said the agency was called in to investigate the shooting that occurred in Kingston Springs, just west of Nashville.

Helm said 70-year-old Albert Ray Finch called Cheatham County 911 Sunday evening, saying he was suicidal. A Kingston Springs Police officer and a Cheatham County Sheriff's deputy arrived to find Finch in his front yard with a gun.

Helm said Finch refused commands to put down the gun and shot at police. It wasn't immediately known how many shots were returned, but Helm said dash camera video in the city police car recorded the incident. The officers' names weren't immediately released.
