THP: Driver was speeding before school bus wreck

JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (AP) -- Authorities have said a school bus driver who was behind the wheel when the bus flipped over was going at least 20 miles over the speed limit.

New details were released during the preliminary hearing Tuesday for 54-year-old Brenda K. Gray of Jonesborough about her actions in the moments leading up to the crash in September that injured all 39 students on the bus.

According to The Johnson City Press (http://bit.ly/SWkvYZ ), Tennessee Highway Patrol Trooper James Fillers said he determined the bus was going between 52 and 60 mph in a 30 mph zone.

Fourteen-year-old Renee Warren, a student at David Crockett High School who was on the bus, testified that Gray asked the students "who wanted to lose their stomachs" just before the bus went off the road.
