NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- A Lebanon jeweler says he owes his life to his new puppy.
Shawn Smith told WKRN-TV he would normally have been working in the office of his business called The Jewelers.
However, Smith adopted a puppy Thursday morning and decided to take it home when it kept barking. About two minutes after he left, a sport utility vehicle plowed through the front wall of the store and came to a stop in his office. Police believe the man driving it had a medical emergency that caused the accident.
Watches and other jewelry went flying as the vehicle narrowly missed a clerk and a customer.
Smith estimated the damage at more than $100,000, but dismissed it as "just stuff" and said he was thankful there were no injuries.
