NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) --Nashville police say one person is dead and two others are hurt after officers tried to stop a car they thought was stolen.
Police say officers chased the car as it sped away Thursday morning, and the driver lost control and slammed into a parked truck, forcing the truck into a home. Nobody inside the home was injured.
16-year-old Kristopher Howard of Nashville was killed. He was a passenger in the car and was partially ejected.
Another 16-year-old was driving. He was treated at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and released. Police say he was being booked into juvenile detention and will face charges of vehicular homicide among others.
Another passenger, 36-year-old Carmilla Ellison, was admitted to Vanderbilt with serious injuries. Warrants issued against her include auto theft and contributing to the delinquency of a minor.
