MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Police in Memphis have charged a 17-year-old boy in the fatal shooting of another youth as a crowd left a high school basketball game.
The suspect's case remains in Juvenile Court, which has ordered him held without bond pending a Feb. 8 hearing.
The teen is charged with first-degree murder in the death of 17-year-old Terrance Wilkins.
The shooting on Jan. 13 apparently came in an argument over a hat, according to The Commercial Appeal. Several shots were fired and at least one of them struck Wilkins in the head. He was taken to the Regional Medical Center where he was pronounced dead the next day.
Investigators said Wilkins either knocked a hat off someone's head or tried to snatch it and a confrontation occurred.
