Teen held in grandparents' slaying hanged in jail

KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- An East Tennessee teenager charged with killing his grandparents has been found hanged in a Knox County jail cell.

Seventeen-year-old Brandon Fannin had been moved from a juvenile detention center after he attacked a guard in an attempt to escape on Jan. 1.

The youth was found dead after apparently hanging himself late Saturday night, according to a Knox County Sheriff's Office report cited by The Knoxville News Sentinel.

The first-degree murder charges against Fannin had been moved to adult court in Hawkins County.

He was charged in the April 2010 slayings of 64-year-old Clyde Hoyt Fannin and 54-year-old Linda Sue Fannin. Investigators said he lived with his grandparents.

Good for him. If only the other murders could follow in his footsteps. A lot cheaper that way.
