NEW JOHSONVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Searchers have recovered the body of a teenager who jumped into the Tennessee river to help save his grandfather, who fell from a boat.
According to WSMV-TV, the body of the 15-year-old was found shortly before noon Monday. His name was not immediately released.
Chris Davis, of the Humphries County Sheriff's Office, said the family was from Carroll County.
They had come to fish near the New Johnsonville power plant when a man fell into the river at about 6:30 a.m. Monday. Another adult and the teen jumped into to rescue him. They were able to get the older man back to the boat. The youth, however, disappeared under the surface.
The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency helped in the search and will investigate the boating accident.
