BELLEFONTAINE, Ohio (AP) -- Tennessee authorities have ended their search for an elderly Ohio woman who vanished with her husband two weeks ago.
Chattanooga police say air patrols and foot searches using a cadaver dog failed to turn up evidence of 85-year-old Gladis Russell of Bellefontaine. The body of her husband, 84-year-old Richard Russell, was found in Chattanooga over the weekend.
Samuel K. Littleton II, the man suspected in the couple's disappearance, was arrested in West Virginia last week, and authorities say he told police he dumped their bodies along Interstate 75 as he drove to Florida.
The 37-year-old Littleton is accused of killing his girlfriend's 26-year-old daughter, whose body was found in the basement of a Bellefontaine home he bought from the Russells in 2009. He has not been charged in their disappearance.
