Tipton County mourns officer death

BRIGHTON, Tenn. (AP) -- The Tipton County Sheriff's Office is mourning the death of a captain who has died of cancer.

The sheriff's office says Capt. Gerald "Bubba" Spencer died Sunday at his home in Brighton after a lengthy battle with the disease.

Spencer was a 28-year veteran of the sheriff's office and most recently was the commander of the Criminal Investigations Division.

Funeral services are scheduled for Wednesday at the Covington Funeral Home chapel with interment to follow at Indian Creek Cemetery.
