KNOXVILLE, Tenn (WVLT) - The tractor trailer driver who hit a Tennessee State Trooper's car earlier this month is expected to be in court Monday.
Authorities say 32-year-old Eric Lewis admitted to falling asleep behind the wheel and hitting Sgt. Lowell Russell's car on March 13th.
The impact caused Russell's car to burst into flames with him inside.
First responders were able to pull the trooper out and he was taken to U.T. Medical Center where he remains in serious condition.
Lewis has been charged with aggravated assault and reckless endangerment.
