MARTIN, Tenn. (AP) -- The University of Tennessee at Martin is presenting a free public lecture on the Civil War.
The lecture will be given by David Coffey, who is chair of the Department of History and Philosophy and a professor of history at Martin.
His books include "John Bell Hood and the Struggle for Atlanta," "Soldier Princess: The Life and Legend of Agnes Salm-Salm in North America, 1861-1867" and "Sheridan's Lieutenants: Phil Sheridan, His Generals, and the Final Year of the Civil War."
Coffey also is a contributor to several major historical reference works, and he recently finished editing a new multivolume encyclopedia of the Civil War.
The lecture is titled "The Civil War at 150" and takes place at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
