UT Martin student dies in motorcycle crash

MARTIN, Tenn. (AP) -- A University of Tennessee at Martin student and a Martin restaurant manager have died in a motorcycle crash.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol says the bodies of computer science major Logan Hughes and Opera House Restaurant manager Jimmy D. Fitzgerald were found Saturday.

Troopers told WPSD-TV in Paducah (http://bit.ly/1ejDqbR ) that Hughes and Fitzgerald were traveling on southbound on Parkers Levee Road when Hughes failed to negotiate a curve.

Troopers say the motorcycle left the roadway, went down an embankment and hit a tree. Hughes and Fitzgerald were thrown from the motorcycle.

Troopers say Hughes was wearing a helmet, but Fitzgerald was not.
