CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- The University of Tennessee at Chattanooga is taking applications from military veterans who want to learn how to start up their own businesses.
The Veterans Entrepreneurship Program will start in June with applications being accepted through April 27.
Robert Dooley, dean of the school's College of Business, told The Chattanooga Times Free Press that while most employers know veterans make good workers, what is often overlooked is their ability to run their own organizations.
The year-long program begins with a month of self-study before the veterans come to the campus in July for an eight-day "boot camp" to learn the fundamentals of business. The veterans will then start a 10-month mentoring phase to get feedback and support on their business ideas.
