DETROIT (AP) -- Wayne State University is offering an online exhibit documenting the 1968 sanitation workers strike that drew the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr. to Memphis, Tenn., where he was assassinated.
The university's Walter P. Reuther Library and WSU University Libraries are presenting the online experience, which the school says aims to capture the landmark struggle that influenced the American civil rights and labor movements.
The exhibit is titled "I Am a Man," based on signs that the strikers carried when they picketed. The Detroit Free Press says it contains historic documents and photographs of the events in Memphis, as well as video clips from a symposium held at Wayne State in 2003 that commemorated the 35th anniversary of the strike.
