SURGOINSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- The widow of an East Tennessee man is pleading for any witnesses to her husband's slaying to come forward.
Joan Varalli told WCYB-TV (http://bit.ly/GQzS3E) that says she doesn't understand why her husband, 36-year-old Chris Varalli, was killed but hopes that someone will come forward with information.
Varalli's body was found at his home last week by a passerby who saw smoke coming from his residence in Surgoinsville. Authorities say a small fire had been set, and Varalli had been shot.
Hawkins County Sheriff Ronnie Lawson said there aren't any suspects and police haven't uncovered a motive. He said clues are harder to find after the first 48 hours goes by, so he and Joan Varalli are asking anyone who remembers anything suspicious in the area last Tuesday to call police.
