NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Gospel singer CeCe Winans will receive the Applause Award from Belmont University in Nashville Saturday night.
The award is presented annually to a person or organization for contributions to the city's arts community. In 2005, Winans founded the youth and young adult conference "Always Sisters Forever Brothers," an annual event that will be held at Belmont this July.
Both of her children graduated from Belmont, and she is a former trustee at the school.
Winans has won eight Grammy Awards during a 25-year career.
