JONESBOROUGH, Tenn. (AP) -- Washington County authorities say they found a mushroom-growing operation while investigating a shooting death.
Sheriff Ed Graybeal told the Johnson City Press deputies found the body of a 24-year-old woman in a front yard Sunday evening. Graybeal did not release the woman's name, pending notification of kin.
Deputies got a search warrant for the mobile home at the address and found hallucinogenic mushrooms growing in a locked room inside. They arrested 25-year-old Kelvin Barnard Conerway, charging him on drug and firearms counts.
He was held Tuesday in the Washington County Jail under $40,000 bond. Jail records did not indicate whether he had an attorney.
