MEMPHIS, Tenn. (AP) -- Federal prosecutors say a Memphis woman has been charged with 214 counts of fraud for submitting more than $1.1 million in false Medicare, Medicaid and Tricare claims.
The U.S. attorney's office said Wednesday that a grand jury indicted 45-year-old Joann McGhee, owner of Meridian Human Services in Memphis.
The indictment claims McGhee hired unlicensed social workers and had them perform social services, daily living training and recreational activities with residents of adult care facilities and private homes from July 2005 to July 2007.
The indictment says McGhee filed false billings for the services. She faces up to 10 years in prison for each count.
A phone number for Meridian Human Services has been disconnected.
