KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WVLT)-- A local girl is trying to raise some dough for a mission trip to Brazil.

Her name is Dara Sparks and she's only 12 years old but she's determine to raise enough money to go on this mission trip.

Dara told us " It's hard to see the kids there suffer but we go over and try to make things better by teaching them how to read the Bible. We also play soccer with them."

The trip is expensive costing $2,000 a person and even though her parents are helping to pay, they still want her to chip in.

"I'm only 12 years old and there's not much I can do to raise money. My parents asked me what I like to do and I said I like to bake so they encouraged me to sell some baked goods." said Dara

She bakes three types of bread; Monkey Bread, Sugar Loaf, and Banana Bread.

"I got the inspiration for my bread from Brazil. There's actually a mountain in Brazil called Sugar Loaf so we had to find a recipe to make it." said Dara

She put together a blog to advertise her business; she even contacted us at Local 8 News to drum up some support.

"I take all the orders, bake all the bread and set up delivery times" said Dara

For one loaf of bread it's $10, for two loaves $18 and for five or more it's $8 each.

You can place your order on her blog at www.brazilbread.blogspot.com
