MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) -- A Rutherford County sheriff's deputy and two people he was driving to a safe place after methamphetamine exposure have been decontaminated.

The Daily News Journal reported Deputy Mark Gregory and a woman in his patrol car fell ill, apparently from meth fumes, Monday night. Sheriff's office spokeswoman Lisa Marchesoni said Gregory found the woman and a man walking along a road late Monday. They said they had been in a home where meth was being cooked and were later kicked out of a van by a man suspected of making the drug.

As the deputy drove them to a safe place, he and the woman became ill. A team trained in meth decontamination responded to Middle Tennessee Medical Center to decontaminate the patients and the police car.
